Answer: The "Requested Return by Date" this date allows us sufficient time for document processing.
Question: What happens after I submit my request form and processing fee?
Answer:
After receiving your request form and processing fee, we will prepare the document that all homeowners need to sign in front of Notary Public. After the documents is notarized, it should be recorded in public records. You will receive the document and recording instructions somewhere between 30-60 days from the time we receive your request. If for some reason you did not receive your document and recording instructions, please call or e-mail our office right away and we will reissue your documents.
Question: I think I may have already done this. Why are you sending me another notice?
Answer:
It is possible that you initiated the process with another document preparation company and paid the initial processing/preparation fee. Please note that if you did not sign the “Designation of Homestead” document in front of Notary Public and if you did not record this document in public records, technically, you may not have designated your homestead. This may be why you are receiving this mailer.
Question: I’m not sure how to answer “filled for tax exemption” question. Should I answer yes or no?
Answer:
Please answer this question to the best of your knowledge. There is no right or wrong answer.
Question: I don’t understand any of this. I don’t’ know if this is something I should do.
Answer:
Please refer back to the form that your received. Most of the answers to your questions are contained within the form itself. We cannot provide any legal advice.
Question: How many times do I have to designate my homestead?
Answer:
Generally speaking, you don’t need to designate more than one time for the duration of your property ownership. Certain exceptions apply, such as, adding or removing individuals to and from property deed.
Question: What is the difference between tax exemption and the service that you provide, the designation of homestead?
Answer:
Texas has two distinct laws for designating a homestead. The Texas Tax Code offers homeowners a way to apply for homestead exemptions to reduce local property taxes. This is not the service that we provide.
The Texas Property Code allows homeowners that are designating their homesteads the protection from forced sale to satisfy creditors. This law does not, however, protect the homeowner from tax foreclosure sales of their homes for delinquent taxes.

Question: I filled for tax exemption when I purchased my property. Why does the form show “filling none?”
Answer:
The form you received from us is not concerning tax exemption. That is not the service that we provide. Homeowners can apply for tax exemption with their County Appraisal District for free.
“Filling None” means that we do not keep a record of your filing with another service or a filing you have done on your own.
